BRIEFING
At 13:09 French Air Force C-130 transport (BUFFALO 15) declared an emergency over the Khasab airport. After unsuccessful attempt to contact the ATC, the pilots decided to land. However, when on approach, pilots reported heavy anti-aircraft fire that further damaged their aircraft. They pulled to the east and continued on the S-E heading, transmitting SOS on Guard before the signal was lost approximately 1 minute later. The general situation in the area is volatile, with insurgent movements on the rise in the whole region, but predominantly in Oman and UAE.
TAREA
Chevy 01 flight will fly to the last known position of BUFFALO 15,where you will be tasked with:
- Locating and marking position of the wreckage.
- Contacting possible survivors
- Assessing security situation in the AO
PACKAGE
- Chevy 1-1 is armed for CAS role,
- Chevy 1-2 will provide CAP and won't be configured for ground attack.
ASSETS
- As we speak, 8 Gazelle helicopters are being pushed north to Ras Al Khaimah international, where they will be able to support operations in the AO.
- NATO AWACS (Overlord, E3) will be on station.
- French Air Force tanker (Shell, KC-135) will establish AAR track south of the AO.
ROE
- Return Fire unless instructed otherwise by Chevalier or unless fired upon.
POLITICAL AND OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
- AO is located in the exclave of Oman. Insurgent movements - probably sponsored by Iran - have been on the rise there for several weeks.
